Tilgate park, New Year's Day Dog Walk

We haven't been to Tilgate Park for a while - I couldn't believe they wanted £3 in car parking charges.

The Titmus lake is still frozen despite a thaw setting in a few days ago. This lake was refurbished in 2007 and now has a fancy boardwalk and duck viewing station.

By the side of the main lake there is a plaque commemorating Malcolm Campbell. The Campbells used to live in the large house (now gone) of the then private estate. The large lake (Campbell's Lake) was used as a testing ground for some of Sir Malcolm Campbell's water borne speed vehicles.

In the distance can be seen the ongoing works to raise thr height of the dam by 2.5m to increase the amount of water that can be stored at the lake, when there is a flood risk

Just to show Skye was there.
