Garden early October

After the rain of recent days the lawn has grown a lot. In the background the chickens were ignoring me.

The chickens are still producing eggs - they have now been laying for over a year (they started on 1 Octyober last year). We are beginning to see a few feathers on the lawn so the moult may not be far off - they are going to get a bit chilly in a few weeks if they loose all their feathers.

Under the trampoline we have this wonderful mushroom.

There is still quite a bit of colour in the garden, mainly due to the Asters. The slabs are laid out for the new path - hopefully this will progress next week.

A few roses are still out.

I had to be patient but eventually this Red Admiral butterfly opened his wings.
